MAY 19, 2014: Mid-Isle’s U13 Highlanders
Boys team represented our Club and our Island extremely well this past weekend
at the 36th Annual “Slurpee
Cup” tournament in Kamloops BC. The team went undefeated in all four of their
games to finish first overall in their group.
Under the direction of coaches Rob Houtman and John Holzwarth, the boys started the
weekend with a 1-0 victory on Saturday against hosts Kamloops Blaze, followed
that afternoon with a 1-1 draw with Vernon United. Sunday afternoon saw the
well-rested Highlanders shut out Richmond FC 4-0, and Monday
morning action resulted in a 4-2 win over Prince George.
“What a talented
skilled group of boys and coaches! Way to make us all proud!”, stated Mid-Isle
President Willow Hartig. Thanks to Tanya
Reiber for the picture!
The 5-A-Side Club Tournament was a TON OF FUN!

U13 Boys Team Fight to Finals, Fall Just Short
The Under-13 Boys Mid-Isle “Diamondbacks” fell just inches short of a being a Cinderella story at this past weekend’s House League wrap-up tournament. Ranked seventh in the League coming into the competition, Mid-Isle battled their way to Sunday’s Gold Medal game, only to lose on a Penalty Kick Shoot-out at the very end. More pictures here!

The youngest members of the Mid-Isle Soccer Club wrapped up their season this past Saturday, March 1. The party was held indoors due to recent snowfall, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of these young soccer players! Pictures were taken, medals were awarded, and hot dogs were eaten as another successful season wound to a close. Thanks to all who volunteered their time and efforts to make this a great event - especially Nikki Van Horne, the Club's Pony Co-ordinator!
